Giulio Gambelli created Tuscany's greatest wines, but most importantly he taught all of the region's first generation of quality wine producers.

Old-fashioned in his approach, he valued the importance of time and demanded that wines be released only when he deemed them ready.

These days many European enology departments offer courses in tasting grapes to establish their ripeness, but he had been doing it since the 1960s and thanks to his advice the grapes would always be picked at just the right moment.
